>“All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full: unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.” Ecclesiastes 1:7
Here the ‘Preacher’ states a scientific principle – evaporation – very clearly – 3000 years ago. Who says the Bible is not a scientific book?
Evaporation is the primary pathway that water moves from the liquid state back into the water cycle as atmospheric water vapor. Studies have shown that the oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers provide nearly 90 percent of the moisture in the atmosphere via evaporation……
For at least 3000 years rains has poured down upon the land, made its way to the rivers and the rivers have run into the seas, and yet the seas are not full. The Preacher knew about the water cycle 3000 years ago.
On average, the 48 continental United States receives enough precipitation in one year to cover the land to a depth of 30 inches. That works out to about 1,430 cubic miles of water, which would have a weight (at about 62.4 pounds per cubic foot) or about 6.6 billion tons. The United States is fortunate to be a country where ample rainfall occurs over much of the land area. Rain: A valuable resource
Let’s take a look at the global warming propaganda being disseminated by the United States Geological Survey:
Global sea level and the Earth’s climate are closely linked. The Earth’s climate has warmed about 1°C (1.8°F) during the last 100 years. As the climate has warmed following the end of a recent cold period known as the “Little Ice Age” in the 19th century, sea level has been rising about 1 to 2 millimeters per year due to the reduction in volume of ice caps, ice fields, and mountain glaciers in addition to the thermal expansion of ocean water. If present trends continue, including an increase in global temperatures caused by increased greenhouse-gas emissions, many of the world’s mountain glaciers will disappear. For example, at the current rate of melting, all glaciers will be gone from Glacier National Park, Montana, by the middle of the next century (fig. 1). In Iceland, about 11 percent of the island is covered by glaciers (mostly ice caps). If warming continues, Iceland’s glaciers will decrease by 40 percent by 2100 and virtually disappear by 2200.
The USGS admits to a “Little Ice Age” in the 1800s, about one hundred fifty years ago. They then assert that since that time, the climate has warmed about 1°C (1.8°F). They then state that sea levels have been rising about 1 to 2 millimeters per year. How they ascertain this rise in sea level they don’t say. How does one measure a rising sea level? One to two millimeters is an awful small rise to measure – one millimeter is 1/1000th of a meter – about the thickness of a credit card. Even if present trends continue, at one millimeter per year, in 100 years sea levels would rise by 10 centimeters – about the size a woman’s cervix dilates to before she is to push when she is about to deliver a baby. Where do they measure this rise? How do they measure this rise? They don’t say. We are just expected to take their word that the sea level is rising and that a 10 centimeter rise in 100 years is something we should worry about. The Preacher, 3000 years ago, said otherwise.
The USGS goes on to predict that if present trends continue many of the world’s mountain glaciers will disappear. There’s the big IF – if present trends continue, – the outcome is pretty scary isn’t it? “at the current rate of melting, all glaciers will be gone from Glacier National Park, Montana, by the middle of the next century.” And “Iceland’s glaziers will decrease by 40% by 2100.” We must do something something about the “increased greenhouse-gas emissions” alleged to be the cause of the seas alleged rising.
However, those of us who read and believe what we read in Ecclesiastes 1:7, we know “All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full: unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again,” and the big IF hasn’t happened for at least 3000 years.
“Oh,” but you say, “what about green house gas emissions from our burning of fossil fuel?” It’s up to you to prove to the rest of us that this slight climate change the USGS alleges takes place, is the result of man-made emissions and not caused naturally by the sun.
The Preacher did also say, “There is nothing new under the sun.”
